Saudi Arabia Imposes Restrictions on Visa Holders, Prevents them from Undertaking Hajj Pilgrimage
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has initiated a new campaign, titled "Be Aware… No Hajj without a Visa," with the aim of raising awareness among Muslim pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia. The campaign's primary objective is to educate non-Saudi pilgrims about the significance of obtaining official permits for performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
The ministry has emphasized the necessity of meeting all legal requirements mandated by the authorities and issued a warning against falling for fraudulent accounts that claim to provide permits for foreign pilgrims. It has been explicitly stated that pilgrims must acquire a designated Hajj visa before arriving in Saudi Arabia. Visas of other types, such as visit visas, tourism visas, employment visas, or transit visas, will not be valid for participating in the pilgrimage at the revered holy sites.
Pilgrims hailing from non-Muslim majority countries, including regions such as Europe, the Americas, and Australia, are required to apply for Hajj through the Nusuk online platform. The ministry sternly cautions against placing trust in online accounts or individuals offering Hajj services at unlawfully lower prices.
To facilitate a smooth pilgrimage experience, the Hajj ministry has furnished pilgrims with comprehensive instructions and information. This includes guidelines on items prohibited on airplanes and the mandatory completion of a customs declaration form upon entry or departure. Such measures particularly apply to situations involving the transportation of substantial amounts of currency, valuable jewelry, commercial quantities of goods, or goods subject to excise tax.
By launching this campaign and providing vital guidelines, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah aims to ensure that all pilgrims are well-informed, fully prepared, and equipped with the necessary documents to embark on their Hajj journey in adherence to the established regulations.
